Research that Benefits Children and Families

To conduct a research, I would choose to study the benefits of play on young children and their families.  More specifically, I would like to study the social and emotional benefits of play on children’s behavior.  I believe that this study would encourage parents and caregivers to spend more play time with their children in order to promote healthy and positive development.  This research would also allow parents and caregivers to engage their children in rough and tumble play, pretend play, role play and limit their time playing video games or watching television.  Many parents are not aware of the negative effects of television and video games have on their children.   I believe research can shed light on these dangers and motivate parents to spend more time playing and doing activities with their children.  Including different kinds of play in the classroom can also help children enjoy school and motivate them to work harder to achieve more; therefore this research would also be beneficial to early childhood professionals.

  1. Ghayna,

I like that you chose a subject that can go from the classroom to the home. Including parents in the learning process makes them less weary of being a part of the classroom and reflects well on their children. ECE play is also about connecting life experiences and learning in the classroom.

  2. Hi Ghayna,
That is an interesting subject. play is children's universal language. It is very essential that parents and educators as well know how much play is vital for the healthy growth and development of young children. I am glad that this subject started to get better attention from early childhood educators in the middle east region. Yet, there are still enormous efforts need to be done for the subject matter!

  3. Ghayna,

Very relevant topic in regards to our studies. Your research would be very interesting especially if you were to go about it in a different way than other previous studies has conducted theirs.

  4. I think this would be a great topic to research! We already know that play is important to a young child's development, but the more we can conduct research on it the better.

  5. Hi Ghayna,

We all know that play is extremely important in how children learn how to work together, form strong bonds with friends, experience what they are learning and how to play alone as well as with others. Extensive research is being conducted right now on how play impacts the social and emotional well being of children in different areas and different age levels. I know that you will find many articles to study. Wonderful blog.
